Family is said to be complete with the blessings of God given to married couples. Babies or children complete the family portrait which everyone wishes to have. Mothers are delighted once they hear their newborns cry. Thus, it signals another chapter of her life has begun. Having a child delivery at the state of California gives your child his or her California Birth Records. After completing some details in the birth form, the document is forwarded to the office of County Recorder at the locality where the birth took place. It needs to wait for another six months to be sent to the state level.

Public documents like birth, death, as well as marriage and divorce files are maintained by the Office of Vital Records of California Department of Public Health. It was reported that in 2008, the birth rate of the state has continuously decreased. Even so, there are still mothers who are delivering their child in California. Vital documents such as birth papers are maintained by the office from the July of 1905 until this present time. The office has said to store more than 50 million of files all over California.

This kind of public document is vital and must retain its confidentiality. The data listed in the said records describes the identity of the person owning the file. Birth certificates are requested in some reasons. It can be used as a requirement to be accepted in school, for graduation, registering for a residency, obtaining passport and employment among all other reasons. These are just some of the few explanations of requesting such form. But then, it helps support the identity of the person as well as some details about the individual.

Since July 1, 2003, the Vital Records office can issue two kinds of certified copies of the abovementioned file. The two documents are certified authentic copy which needs sworn statement as authorized to accept the requested file. Certified Informational copy is another type of requested document wherein anybody can access to the file but not used to determine the identity of an individual. The difference of the two copies is the use of a notarized sworn statement.

An application form to request a public document can be accessed from the website of the California Department of Public Health. The applicant must fill in the required information and determine the kind of copy to be requested. A processing fee of $18 is needed by the offices which are sent through checks or money orders in the United States. They can mail the application form with the notarized sworn statement if needed to California Department of Public Health, Vital Records - MS 5103, P.O. Box 997410, Sacramento, CA 95899-7410.

The requested report takes couple of weeks in order for you to receive the copy. For Birth Records of 1905 until 1968, it will take six weeks to process while three weeks for births from 1968 until today. If you want to have an instant view of your birth document, you may do so. There are online companies offering free search of your file. On the other hand, you must pay some amount in order to avail a full view of the document you wish to search in the internet. Thus, with such service, it allows you to know the availability of the requested birth files.
