Driving down the road is the worst time to see flashing lights and hear police sirens behind you. As they pass by the excitement subsides and changes to a welcoming sense of security. It is a sign that there are officials at work to keep everyone safe.

It is convenient to poke fun at the men and women who enforce the law. They always seem overly cautious and formal in their dealing with the public. However, if one looks a little deeper it is easier to understand.

Sometimes when considering how law enforcement is carried out, the obvious answer does not always end up being correct. One of the more common misconceptions is that it seems a bad idea for cops to arrive on scene with so much noise. To the layperson, it might appear smarter to try an sneak up on the bad guys, not so.

Ultimately, the purpose of officers arriving on scene is to establish control first. The sound of their vehicles helps establish the notion that authority has arrived, which makes it easier from the beginning. It also acts to disrupt events that are occurring, as the perpetrators stop and begin to consider their escape.

The variable tones strike a note of fear in criminals and provide a means to let the public know to stay clear. It draws the curious as well, but warns everyone something serious happened that is being investigated. It is essential that everyone know that armed officers are in the area conducting official business and their instructions must be complied with first and questioned later.

People hear police sirens and think of two things, either someone is in trouble or someone is hurt. For all the criticism law enforcement officers get, their presence makes us feel secure. It helps people feel a little better about their city and their community. Police Sirens
