From time to time when out driving a motorist will happen upon utility warning lights. They are there for a reason and that is to alert you of a number of different things. Despite their reason for being in use, it means that people ahead are working on or near the roadway.

Any and all vehicles that are considered to be public conveyances will have these amber signals. Amber has long been the color that everyone recognizes as a given notice that something is happening in the roadway ahead. Regardless of the circumstances for the public vehicle being there, we are expected to react appropriately.

It is not uncommon for people to give little thought to what may be occurring. These are your neighbors and friends whose job it is to maintain all of the things that we take for granted. Water lines, electric wires, road repair, and gas lines, are all things that must be seen to.

In some instances you may see both red and amber signs. This may signify an accident involving cars, or possibly a fire. Whatever the emergency may be, you will see a number of public and private personnel placing their lives at risk to save the life of another.

Citizens are seldom seen not obeying the recommendation to be on alert. Bar, strobe, and a single rotating light are all some of the ones you may see. They have one important thing in common and that is letting you know that you need to slow down when driving through any of these areas.

Failure to heed utility warning lights is considered a serious matter. So much so, that all states will have a law in force that a driver can be fined for not heeding the recommended suggestion that has been given them by the use of these lights. In most cases, speed in excess of 20 mph can see you appearing in traffic court. Utility Warning Lights
