B vitamins - they come in many kinds and each one of them is vital for the body to function correctly. Each vitamin also has its own role in the system. One's body will be at risk for acquiring numerous diseases if the level of B vitamins is not enough. For example, the person's blood supply would be greatly affected with insufficient B vitamins. The heart and the brain need these B vitamins as well for these vital organs to do their job properly. In fact, we also need these vitamins to help break down the food that we eat.

Thiamin, or B1, is the B vitamin that the body needs to keep all of its cells, especially the nerves, functioning correctly. It is especially important for memory and general mental health and is one of the B vitamins that is required to convert food into energy.

Since it's important for red blood cells to be healthy, we must have sufficient level of Riboflavin or vitamin B2. In order to get the energy from the food consumed, one must have enough amount of Riboflavin as well.

Vitamin B3 or Niacin is involved in numerous processes. Three of them include detoxification of chemicals, production of hormones and acquiring the energy from the food being eaten.

Pantothenic acid or vitamin B5 is also involved in many processes. It has a huge role in breaking down those carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Moreover, this vitamin is also required to develop vitamin D, various hormones and red blood cells.

Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine is important so that amino acids can be redistributed to form numerous proteins. Furthermore, Pyridoxine is also needed to create different types of enzymes.

Biotin, or B7, is one of the B vitamins that are involved in a number of processes within the body, including the breaking down of fats, carbohydrates and proteins into usable energy forms.

With regards to cell division, this is where Folic acid or vitamin B9 becomes essential especially if the person is pregnant. Folic acid also plays an important role in producing those chemicals needed to control the mood, appetite and the person's sleep periods. According to studies, Folic acid is also the best vitamin to dwindle the chances of experiencing stroke and heart attack by maintaining the arteries to be open.

Cobalamin or vitamin B12 is significant to convert carbohydrates, proteins and fats to energy. Moreover, it's also responsible for providing protection to the nerve cells and to maintain the healthiness of the red blood cells. Cobalamin is also essential for avoiding cardiac diseases.
